I was born...

...at the foot of some quintessentially English hills but moved to my adopted home of Bristol at an early age.

I was educated...

...to 'A' level standard but it didn't stick so I ran away and did voluntary work with children on the 'at risk' register. It wasn't an easy career to pursue so I did other jobs instead, eventually becoming a computer programmer, half-educated and half-on-the-job training. I enjoyed constructing the narrative of what the computer needed to do, looking for plot holes and constructing beautiful efficient code.

I settled down...

...in south Bristol where I raised five children and many many pets.

I wrote...

...always. From childhood through teenage angst and twenty-something arrogance. Novels in snatched early parenthood and panto fundraisers for the school. Comedy scripts for a group that included Jon Richardson, Angie Belcher, Mark Olver.

I played music...
...in a band, on my own, for exams. Got a first class degree, taught piano, taught guitar. Wrote some songs. Made some albums
I sold books...

...at Waterstones. Loved it but it's hard to sustain as a career. Especially with bills to pay.

I wrote more...
...when the kids had all left and the mortgage was paid. Took a Masters, used some scenes for a novel. Finished novel. Got some feedback, made some changes. Got more feedback, changed some more. Paid for feedback, made more changes. More feedback, more changes. You know the story.
